If you train hard, you need to recover hard – and this Recovery Roundup brings three products to help you do just that. Picky Bars deliver ride-powering granola, not even in bar form. Then Floyd’s of Leadville is back a gain with a new soothing recovery balm, this time in lavender, with a bit of CBD & lidocaine to ease the aches. And lastly, Tailwind takes vegan nutrition north of the 49th parallel…
Picky Bars PB&J All Day performance granola
You probably know Oregon-based Picky Bars for their (surprise!) nutrition bars. Founded by professional athletes Jesse Thomas, Lauren Fleshman & Steph Bruce, the company seeks to provide real-food products in portable and accessible packages, avoiding excessive sugar or refined oils. They also aim for an athlete-approved 4:1 carb-to-protein ratio.
Picky Bars has slowly expanded their offerings, and recently announced a new Performance Granola, debuting is a flavor dubbed PB&J All Day. CEO Jesse Thomas says, “After the success of our Performance Oatmeal launch last year, we knew our customers had an appetite (pun intended!) for additional balanced nutrition, real food products from Picky. Granola is a staple for many athletes, including myself, as is PB&J, so it was an all-natural choice to add this to our product mix. Ok I’ll stop with the puns now. In all seriousness, feedback from the samples we sent to our Picky Club in December was fantastic, so I’m really stoked to get this product out there.”
With a launch video like this, it’s hard not to get behind the Picky Bars crew:
Picky Performance Granola is gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and non-GMO. Available for $9 in 10-serving bags straight from pickybars.com, through the Picky Club, at Amazon & a few select retailers.
Floyd’s Lavender, CBD & Lidocaine Recovery Balm
Better known for their CBD softgels and tinctures, Colorado-base Floyd’s of Leadville just introduced an addition to their line of balms – CBD Lavender Blend balm. Said to combine the healing properties of CBD with a small amount of lidocaine (a local anesthetic), it relieves muscle and joint pain where applied.
Along with ingredients such as lavender, peppermint, coconut & eucalyptus, it brings a soothing aroma to help you relax after tough workouts. Here are the highlights:
Note that the Recovery Balm is part of their Full Spectrum CBD line, meaning that it contains a small amount of THC (subject to drug testing for some employers).
Tailwind Nutrition expands distribution in Canada
While Tailwind Nutrition’s line of sports and recovery drinks are well-known in the United States, they just announced an expansion of their Canadian distribution via Podium Imports, who previously only inventoried the Endurance Fuel sports drink.
According to Tailwind,
Tailwind Rebuild is the first sport recovery drink based on a patent-pending perfectly complete protein. We start with organic rice protein, and supplement it with amino acids to make that protein complete. Then we add carbohydrates, some healthy fats from coconut milk, and just the right amount of electrolytes. Nothing repairs your muscles more efficiently, restores your energy faster, and makes you feel better sooner. And athletes love the great tasting healthy vegan ingredients.
Tailwind’s drink mixes are non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free & vegan-friendly.
